Weight management
A pharmacist-led weight management consultation for adults 18 and over, in a private setting on Seymour Grove. We'll review your health, goals and previous attempts properly — and only consider medically supported treatment if it's clinically appropriate. No pressure. No judgement.
What the consultation looks like
Time, a proper assessment, and an honest answer.
Your appointment starts with a clinical discussion: health history, current medicines, lifestyle, what you've tried, and what you're hoping for. The pharmacist will then assess whether the service is suitable, including checking for anything that would require GP input or rule certain options out. Suitability is not confirmed online — it's a proper clinical decision made in the room.
If the service is suitable and you choose to proceed, the pharmacist will explain the recommended plan — including lifestyle support, follow-up reviews, and any prescription treatment dispensed through the pharmacy. Treatment is only provided where clinically appropriate, and follow-up reviews are part of the programme so we can monitor progress and safety. Results vary between individuals and depend on adherence to lifestyle changes.
— Treatment pricing
What's included each month.
If you start a treatment programme, the dose is built up gradually over time — that's how these medicines are licensed to be used safely. What you pay each month reflects the dose, not a subscription. The initial consultation is what confirms whether the service is appropriate.
Starter month
From £110
Your first month at the lowest starting dose, if treatment is suitable. Covers the prescription, the medication itself, and the pharmacist's time getting you started safely.
Standard month · Most patients
From £140
Ongoing monthly treatment as the dose is gradually built up — the stage most patients spend the longest in. Covers prescription, medication, monthly pharmacist review and progress check.
Higher dose
From £200
For patients on a higher maintenance dose after the gradual step-up. Covers prescription, medication and ongoing pharmacist review.
— Common questions
Honest answers, before you commit.
Common questions about pharmacist-led weight management. Anything else, call 0161 258 6149.
How does the consultation work?
The initial consultation is a private conversation with a pharmacist. We review your weight history, BMI, medical history, current medications and goals — then explain whether prescription treatment is clinically appropriate and what to expect. No pressure to proceed.
Which medication will I be offered?
We can't name specific prescription-only medicines publicly — advertising them to the public isn't permitted under UK regulations. During your consultation the pharmacist will explain the licensed treatment options, how each one works, and which is most appropriate for you.
What are the common side effects?
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, reduced appetite, constipation or diarrhoea — particularly when starting or stepping up a dose. These usually settle within a few weeks. Less common but more serious effects include pancreatitis and gallbladder issues. Your pharmacist will go through the full safety profile in the consultation and provide a patient information leaflet.
Will I need to inject myself?
Yes — current licensed treatments are self-administered as a weekly injection using a pre-filled pen. The needle is very fine and most people find it manageable. Your pharmacist will show you how to use it and answer any questions on your first appointment, and you can call us anytime afterwards if you're unsure.
What happens when I stop treatment?
Honest answer: many people regain some of the weight after stopping, particularly if treatment ends abruptly. That's why we focus on lifestyle change alongside the medication — diet, activity and habits that are sustainable without it. Your pharmacist will discuss a gradual step-down when the time is right.
