Local B12 injections — hydroxocobalamin on Seymour Grove.

Old Trafford residents can walk to Trafford Clinic for vitamin B12 injections — we're at 122 Seymour Grove (M16 0FF), within 10 minutes' walk of much of the M16 residential area. The clinic operates from Empire Pharmacy (GPhC premises 1123966), led by independent prescriber Haroon Iqbal. We give hydroxocobalamin (the UK-licensed form) intramuscularly: loading dose is typically 6 injections over 2 weeks, then maintenance every 2–3 months. If you've never been tested, we'll draw a serum B12 to a UKAS-accredited lab before starting a loading course — results come back in 24–48 hours and a pharmacist consultation is included.

Vitamin B12 injections for Old Trafford residents

Trafford Clinic is your local B12 injection service in Old Trafford — at Empire Pharmacy, 122 Seymour Grove. We administer hydroxocobalamin 1mg intramuscularly, the NHS-standard formulation listed first-line in the BNF and aligned with NICE CKS. Every injection is prescribed and given by Haroon Mohammad Iqbal MPharm, IP (GPhC reg. 2051093) personally. We require evidence of deficiency before prescribing — a recent serum B12 in the last 3 months or a documented diagnosis of pernicious anaemia.

The protocol — loading and maintenance

New B12 deficiency without neurological symptoms: six 1mg hydroxocobalamin injections over 2 weeks, alternate days, per BNF. With neurological involvement (peripheral neuropathy, glossitis, ataxia, cognitive change): alternate-day injections until improvement plateaus, then 2-monthly maintenance. Pernicious anaemia: 3-monthly maintenance for life. Dietary deficiency: 3-monthly until corrected, often followed by oral cyanocobalamin 1mg daily long-term.

Common Old Trafford patient profiles

Long-term metformin users (5+ years) with fatigue — metformin interferes with calcium-dependent B12 absorption in the terminal ileum. Long-term PPI users (omeprazole, lansoprazole) for reflux, where reduced gastric acid limits B12 release from food. Pernicious anaemia patients confirmed by GP who find the NHS 3-monthly appointment booking inconvenient (NHS-confirmed patients can choose to come to us instead). Vegans and strict vegetarians without supplementation. Post-bariatric patients with anatomical malabsorption — we see a steady stream from our own weight loss service.

Don't have a blood test yet?

We can run a same-day serum B12 in-house at our Old Trafford blood tests service, with results back in 24–48 hours from a UKAS-accredited lab. The full fatigue workup also covers FBC (for MCV >100 macrocytic anaemia), folate, ferritin, TSH and vitamin D — these often co-exist with B12 deficiency and we don't want to miss one. The British Society for Haematology guidelines recommend MMA and homocysteine as confirmatory tests when serum B12 sits in the 200–300 ng/L grey zone.
