Weight loss clinic for Salford Quays — the executive screen and GLP-1 pathway
Salford Quays and MediaCityUK have a substantial professional population accustomed to executive-style health monitoring. Trafford Clinic offers both — a comprehensive baseline blood screen and a pharmacist-led, Independent-Prescriber-run GLP-1 weight loss programme, all from one building. We operate from Empire Pharmacy, 122 Seymour Grove, Old Trafford (GPhC premises 1123966), led by Haroon Mohammad Iqbal MPharm, IP (GPhC reg. 2051093). About 10–15 minutes from MediaCity via Trafford Road and Chester Road.
Mounjaro and Wegovy — the clinical programme
We prescribe Mounjaro (tirzepatide, dual GLP-1/GIP, NICE TA1026) and Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg, NICE TA875). Eligibility: BMI ≥30 or ≥27.5 with a comorbidity, with the 2.5-point lower threshold for South Asian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Black African and African-Caribbean adults (NICE CG189). SURMOUNT-1 showed ~21% weight loss on Mounjaro at 72 weeks; STEP-1 showed ~15% on Wegovy at 68 weeks. Escalation: Mounjaro 2.5 → 15mg weekly; Wegovy 0.25 → 2.4mg weekly. We follow MHRA Drug Safety Updates.
The MediaCity professional baseline
Salford Quays patients typically book a comprehensive baseline panel before starting GLP-1 — HbA1c, U&E, LFTs, TSH/T3/T4, lipid profile, vitamin D, plus often a full hormone panel (testosterone for the male patients, oestradiol/FSH/LH for women). This baseline matters: GLP-1 therapy changes the metabolic trajectory rapidly, and a documented starting point makes the next 6-month repeat panel much more interpretable. We run the bloods via our Salford Quays blood tests service, results in 24–48 hours from a UKAS-accredited lab.
Convenience for business travellers
Most of our Salford Quays patients travel for work. We dispense the next month's medication in-stock the same visit — no posting, no courier risk to the cold chain. We write medication letters for airport security and walk you through cold-chain bag advice for long flights. For travel-specific advice see our Salford Quays travel clinic page.
