Ears feeling blocked?

Sale's nearest microsuction clinic.

Sale residents come to Trafford Clinic on Seymour Grove for microsuction because most local GPs no longer offer wax removal and it takes weeks to be seen privately elsewhere. We're 4 miles north on the A56 — typically 12 minutes from Sale Moor or Sale town centre, with free patient parking. The clinic operates from Empire Pharmacy (GPhC premises 1123966) and is led by independent prescriber Haroon Iqbal. We use a binocular microscope plus low-pressure suction, which is the same technique ENT surgeons use in hospital. Same-day appointments usually available; the procedure itself takes about 20 minutes.

Ear wax removal for Sale residents

For Sale residents needing professional microsuction, Trafford Clinic is 10–15 minutes north up the A56 or four stops on the Altrincham Metrolink line. We operate from Empire Pharmacy, 122 Seymour Grove, Old Trafford (GPhC premises 1123966), led by Haroon Mohammad Iqbal MPharm, IP (GPhC reg. 2051093). Same-day or next-day appointments most days, 20 minutes both ears, hearing restored on the spot.

The procedure and the equipment

Binocular operating microscope, Tympahealth suction unit — the same equipment ENT outpatient departments use — with the procedure performed under direct vision. Every appointment starts with a video-otoscopic exam to confirm wax and rule out infection, perforation or foreign body. Microsuction is low-pressure (typically 80–120 mmHg), dry, controlled, reversible. NICE CKS, ENT UK and the British Society of Audiology all endorse microsuction as the preferred clinic-based method.

Why Sale patients come to us

NHS England decommissioned routine ear-wax removal from primary care in 2019. Greater Manchester audiology waits for wax are typically 12–24 months — not a realistic option for older patients, hearing-aid users or working adults with daily symptoms. Sale has a substantial older population, and we see regular maintenance bookings (3- to 6-monthly) for hearing-aid wearers whose moulds trap wax in the canal. Olive oil drops for 3–5 nights before the appointment significantly improves first-pass clearance.
